EDNA Myanmar will host “Enterprise Development Myanmar: A Day for Entrepreneurs” on Saturday the 11th of February 2017. It will be a day of learning, networking and facilitating entrepreneurs from EDNA Myanmar’s “Grass roots entrepreneurship and enterprise development project.”
The “Grass roots entrepreneurship and enterprise development project” was funded by LIFT and implemented by The University of Sydney Business School’s Entrepreneurship & Innovation Group with EDNA Myanmar. During the three year project period the program has developed 150 mentors who in turn educated nearly 9,400 entrepreneurs from 10 regions across Myanmar. The program gave participants access to entrepreneurship education as well as the opportunity to learn from the experiences of successful entrepreneurs through Enterprise Development events (for example how these entrepreneurs overcome obstacles and challenges and how they manage resources and funds for their business). Through these Enterprise Development events (81 of which have been held in the past 3 years) EDNA Myanmar has focussed on:
(i) Entrepreneurs’ access to finance (ii) Transfer of technology and best practice (iii) Improve market access opportunities for micro and small enterprises (iv) Improve entrepreneurs’ functional skills to manage enterprise operations (v) Improve Business Development Services (BDS) that are essential for enterprise growth.
This Enterprise Development Myanmar event will celebrate the success of the LIFT project with the gathering of over 1,400 graduating entrepreneurs from the 10 regions. This event will include panel discussions with leaders from the business community as well as representatives from The Ministry of Commerce, MyanTrade Department, The Ministry of Industry SME department, The Ministry of Health, the FDA department and the Department of Cooperatives. There will also be Regional Exhibitions and a ministry information counter.
